Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy — the wife of former GOP Congressman Sean Duffy of Wisconsin — said Sunday on “Fox & Friends” that First Lady Jill Biden is indirectly to blame for President Joe Biden’s withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan.
Using some of the most tortured logic imaginable, Campos-Duffy remarked:
“When you look at what’s hurting America, when you look at this lack of leadership, and you wonder who are the people responsible for putting someone this incompetent and frankly this, you know, mentally frail in this position? And yes, of course, the media and many people are saying… Susan Rice and Obama and maybe Valerie Jarrett.”
How it is a lack of leadership to carry through on a foreign policy initiative that began under former President Donald Trump and was heartily cheered by conservatives when the withdrawal from Afghanistan was announced over a year ago?
That’s when Campos-Duffy tried to blame Jill Biden:
“I’m sorry, as a political spouse, I can’t help but look at Jill Biden. No one knew better his state of mind than Dr. Jill Biden.
“And if you ask me, the most patriotic thing Jill Biden could have done was tell her husband [Joe Biden] — to love her husband and not let him run in this mental state that he’s in. I think she failed the country as well.”
What?! If anyone’s mental state was unfit for the presidency, it was Donald Trump, a man who repeatedly lied, refused to take responsibility for his mistakes, had trouble pronouncing the simplest of words, and often looked like he had no idea where he even was. And remember how much trouble he had simply going down a ramp after he spoke at West Point?
Joe Biden is in better mental and physical health than Donald Trump has ever been. If Campos-Duffy and other conservatives want to point the finger at anyone for what’s taking place in Afghanistan, they should point to Donald Trump.
