Disgraced former president Donald Trump issued a new statement on Thursday declaring that the November 3rd Election in 2020 was the real insurrection while what occurred on January 6th was a mere “protest.”
As the House 1/6 Committee continues to close in on him and his treason, Trump released an incendiary statement through a proxy on Twitter.
“The insurrection took place on November 3, Election Day. January 6 was the Protest!” he said.
The statement came as the House voted to hold Steve Bannon in contempt for refusing to comply with a subpoena. It’s now on the Justice Department to charge him and arrest him. That is if Attorney General Merrick Garland has a spine and cares about our democracy.
The statement drew outrage, not only in the House of Representatives, where Democrats used it to hammer Republicans but also on Twitter, with some calling on Twitter to ban Trump’s proxies.
.@RepRaskin: “Today Donald Trump said the insurrection took place on November 3. No…that was an election….We know an insurrection when we see one in this body because we lived through one.” pic.twitter.com/el2DUk9lFW

Trump released a statement saying the insurrection was really on Election Day and Jan. 6 was a protest. I’ve highlighted the difference between a protest and an insurrection below.
On the right, we have BLM just before they were violently removed for Trump’s Bible photo op. pic.twitter.com/Mc4m7q3DqI

.@LeaderHoyer: “If I were trying a case, I would offer as Exhibit A a statement by the man who would be dictator – Donald J. Trump – who absurdly and, of course incorrectly, says the insurrection took place on November 3rd. Election Day.” pic.twitter.com/wQdXkchvoJ

Rep. Jim McGovern D-MA repeatedly calling on Republicans to denounce the Trump statement that Election Day was an ‘insurrection.’
“All my colleagues were elected on November 3. If you believe that Election Day was an insurrection, then your election results are illegitimate.”

This statement is an act of war against America. ANY Republican who does not publicly rebuke this statement must be defeated. ANY Republican. pic.twitter.com/mVAsPXkqGK

Voting isn’t an insurrection.
Losing isn’t an insurrection.
January 6th was an insurrection. #Facts!— Matt617 (@ic0noclast617) October 21, 2021
@Twitter, quit giving Trump a platform. It was this kind of BS got him suspended permanently. You can’t let other handles spread misinformation on his behalf.

A former President saying that a free, fair, and secure election in our country was an insurrection is beyond disgraceful, as is the fact that people like you are willing to push the lie as well.

Is it normal to have paramilitary militia filing up the capital steps in stack formation and other zip ties, and bear mace, for a normal protest/ tourist visit? And what was Donald doing during all of this? Subpoena him.

Our nation can no longer tolerate Trump’s deliberate lies and seditious behavior. He needs to be brought to justice for inciting an insurrection to overthrow democracy. He legitimately lost the 2020 Election and tried to orchestrate a coup to stay in power by force. And he is continuing to incite insurrection to this day. There must be consequences.
