Former Trump administration senior adviser Steve Bannon is now making a fact-free claim that Attorney General Merrick Garland was part of a “coup” aimed at former President Donald Trump, even though Garland wasn’t nominated to be attorney general until long after the 2020 election took place.

On his “War Room: Pandemic” podcast Monday, Bannon — who was referred to the Justice Department for criminal contempt of Congress last week — went on an extended rant that made almost no sense whatsoever, telling his audience:

“Did you ever see Steve Bannon whine about all the crap they pulled on Russia? The answer is no. It is what it is. And guess what? We’re crushing this illegitimate regime in this crib. OK? So, Bennie [Thompson], suck on that. OK?”

Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) is chairman of the House Select Committee on the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection that subpoenaed Bannon and then referred him to the DOJ for ignoring the subpoena.

Bannon then added:

“So do not think that you’re going to intimidate us in any way, shape or form. When independent voters see this they’re going to be outraged. What did the FBI know, what did the national security apparatus know, what does [FBI Director Christopher Wray] know, what does Merrick Garland know and what did they not tell the president of the United States? What did they not tell Donald Trump?

“What did they plan? What did they plot? And what did they hide from Donald J. Trump when he was commander-in-chief. This is an outrage. You talk about coups. I can show you a coup and we will show you a coup. No conspiracy. We’re going to connect hard dots.”

Garland was serving as a judge on the D.C. Court of Appeals when Trump lost the 2020 election by a large margin to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. So how exactly did he play any role in the election or aftermath when Trump and his allies desperately began filing lawsuits that went nowhere because no election fraud could be found?

As usual, those allied with Donald Trump have no facts, no proof, and no evidence. All they can do is concoct BS stories about things that only took place in their own overactive imaginations.

Here’s Bannon making a fool of himself:
