In a homophobic rant directed at Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Co.) attacked parental leave even though a majority of Americans support the policy.

Buttigieg has been viciously attacked by Republicans for taking paternity leave to spend time with his newly adopted children and his husband. The Biden Administration supports paternity leave for executive branch employees and had no problem with Buttigieg being absent. However, he was available to handle big issues and there is a deputy Transportation Secretary to fill in.

Boebert, of course, had to launch her own insults at Buttigieg.

“Mayor Pete was on a two-month maternity — paternity, whatever the heck you want to call it — leave. The guy was gone,” Boebert ranted. “The guy was not working, because why? He was trying to figure out how to chest feed. I delivered one of my children in the front seat of my truck. Because, as a mom of four, we got things to do. Ain’t nobody got time for two and a half months of maternity leave. We have a world to save, here.”

Here’s the video via Twitter:

Boebert’s story is bigoted, but it’s also quite demonstrative of the need for paid parental leave and universal healthcare.

Needless to say, Twitter users took her to the woodshed.
