QAnon Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) went on a tirade this week over the coronavirus vaccine and lashed out at Democrats for wanting to protect people from contracting the virus.
Republicans, despite most of them already getting vaccinated against the virus themselves, have spent a lot of time bashing vaccines and any efforts designed to prevent the spread of the virus so this pandemic can come to an end. Federal employees are now required to get vaccinated as part of this effort.
Of course, Greene threw a hissy fit about it and insisted that they can defy the mandate.
“If they do not want the vaccine then they do not have to take the vaccine,” she claimed. “You want to know something, Steve? I’m not vaccinated. I’m not vaccinated and I’m not getting the vaccine because I’m an American and I can choose what I want to do with my body. I have the freedom to decide if I want to get a vaccine or not get a vaccine. And I don’t care who tells me to get one, I will not get one unless I choose that I want to. I’m a member of Congress and guess what? No one is firing me for not being vaccinated.”
Members of Congress can only be fired by the voters, so Greene’s defiance means nothing. However, Greene could be barred from the House floor or expelled for being a health risk to other members.
She then continued her tantrum by calling Democrats “Nazis” and “Communists.”
“They are ruining our country, these vaccine Nazis!” she ridiculously said. “And I’m sorry, I know I’m using the word ‘Nazi’ and everybody gets mad when I say it. But that’s exactly what they are. They’re vaccine Nazis. They have called us fascists and have called us Nazis for five years now and I’m fed up with it! They are the Nazis! They are the fascists! They are the communists! They are the Marxists!”

Vaccine mandates are not fascism nor communism. Democratic societies, including our own, have instituted mask and vaccine mandates in our history to protect public health. Greene also should look up the definitions of political ideologies because they are different from each other. And the reason why the GOP has been compared to Nazis in recent years is that there are definitely similarities, including a coup attempt on January 6th that Greene apparently helped organize.
