Rep. Liz Cheney shredded Fox News host Tucker Carlson during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday,” telling host Chris Wallace that Carlson has been spreading dangerous lies about the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol being a “false flag” operation conducted by the U.S. government.

Cheney began by telling Wallace that is absolutely no proof to Carlson’s bogus conspiracy theories about what transpired on Jan. 6:

“You know, it’s the same kind of thing that you hear from people who say that 9/11 was an inside job. It’s un-American to be spreading those kinds of lies and they are lies. And we have an obligation that goes beyond partisanship, an obligation that we share — Democrats and Republicans together — to make sure that we understand every single piece of the facts about what happened that day and to make sure the people who did are held accountable.

“And to call it a false-flag operation, to spread those kinds of lies is really dangerous.”

What Cheney is referring to is a three-part series Carlson has made:

The network’s top host is now leading them to an examination of the violent Jan. 6 siege of the U.S. Capitol in a three-part series called Patriot Purge, which was released this week on the network’s right-wing streaming service Fox Nation.

In the series, Carlson strongly suggests that the insurrection was not orchestrated by former President Donald Trump’s fans but by his foes, including violent leftist antifa groups and even the FBI and other national security divisions. He plants the idea that the siege was a “false flag” operation to discredit Trump supporters.

Does that sound like what actually happened on Jan. 6 based on the facts we have? Of course not! It’s just an attempt to place blame on others rather than on the right-wing insurrectionists and Trump acolytes who stormed the Capitol and wound up causing the death of five people.

Not only are Tucker Carlson and his lies un-American, they’re also a threat to the national security of the country.
