On Tuesday, controversial QAnon Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-CO) posted a photo on Twitter of her four young sons brandishing assault rifles in front of a Christmas tree, along with this message:

“The Boeberts have your six, @RepThomasMassie! (No spare ammo for you, though)”

Newsweek notes that Boebert’s tweet comes just three days after Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) posted a similar snapshot of his family holding assault rifles in front of a Christmas tree:

Massie’s similar photograph, posted to Twitter on December 4, had depicted the congressman with his entire family, all holding similar-style long guns. The tweet also asked Santa to “please bring ammo.”

Criticism of Boebert’s disgusting tweet was immediate, with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) noting that the Colorado Republican was hardly being true to the actual spirit of Christmas, which has traditionally included the call for peace and love towards others, as found in Luke 2:8-14:

Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

Others were also sickened by the idea of Boebert trying to turn Christmas into a Rambo-like dedication to violence:
