In yet more damning text messages read aloud by House Democrats this week, it turns out that Republican lawmakers were already conspiring to steal the 2020 Election for Donald Trump before all of the votes were even counted.

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) of the House January 6th Committee read out many text messages sent to former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows earlier in the week revealing that several Republicans and Fox News hosts understood that the January 6th insurrection was a violent coup attempt. That means the White House was well aware of the violence yet Trump sat by and did nothing for three hours, presumably in the hopes that the coup would succeed so he could remain in office as a dictator.

Now the texts are revealing that Republicans were plotting to steal the election for Trump. The idea the unnamed lawmaker floated called for Republican-controlled statehouses to declare the results void if Trump lost and send Trump-backing electors to the Electoral College instead. Any challenges to the scheme would go to the Supreme Court, where Republicans control six of the nine seats.

“HERE’s an AGGRESSIVE STRATEGY: Why can’t [sic] the states of GA NC PENN and other R controlled statehouses declare this is BS (where conflicts and election not called that night) and just send their own electors to vote and have it go to the SCOTUS,” the lawmaker wrote.

This message came within hours of the polls closing, so Republicans did not even wait for the results before scheming to rig the election for Trump.

These Republican lawmakers who sent texts to Meadows on the night of the 2020 election and on January 6th must be named and they must be prosecuted. This is clearly a conspiracy to overthrow democracy and the consequences for all involved must be brutal so it will not be tried again. Allowing these criminals to continue serving in Congress only enables them to try again until they succeed. The evidence of their crimes keeps piling up, yet Attorney General Merrick Garland and the DOJ are doing nothing to defend our Constitution.

Many Americans believe that this needs to change immediately.
