As the House January 6th Committee closes in on him and his allies, Donald Trump plans to commemorate the Capitol insurrection next month on the first anniversary of the attempted overthrow of our democracy all while spewing his election lies.

The committee has already revealed that Republican lawmakers communicated with Trump as the insurrection unfolded.

On that day, Trump supporters violently stormed the Capitol in a scheme to install Trump as a dictator, even if it meant assassinating lawmakers along the way.

Despite the hundreds of hours of video footage from that day proving that the insurrection was far from peaceful and the overwhelming evidence that President Joe Biden legitimately won the 2020 Election, Trump repeated his election lies and insisted that the insurrection was caused by a “rigged” election while attacking the committee.

“Why isn’t the Unselect Committee of highly partisan political hacks investigating the CAUSE of the January 6th protest, which was the rigged Presidential Election of 2020?” Trump said. “Does anybody notice that they want to stay as far away from that topic as possible, the numbers don’t work for them, or even come close. The only thing they can do is not talk about it. Look at what is going on now in Pennsylvania, Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, and, to a lesser extent, Michigan where the numbers are horrendously corrupt in Detroit.”

He then attacked Michigan Republicans for refusing to go along with his lies.

“But the weak Republican RINOs in the Michigan House and Senate don’t want to touch the subject,” Trump said. “In many ways, a RINO is worse than a Radical Left Democrat, because you don’t know where they are coming from and you have no idea how bad they really are for our Country. The good news is there are fewer and fewer RINOs left as we elect strong Patriots who love America.”

Trump then announced that he will hold a press conference on January 6th, which will undoubtedly be used to gaslight America and incite future insurrections.

“I will be having a news conference on January 6th at Mar-a-Lago to discuss all of these points, and more,” Trump said. “Until then, remember, the insurrection took place on November 3rd, it was the completely unarmed protest of the rigged election that took place on January 6th.”

Here’s the statement as posted on Twitter despite Trump being banned from using the platform.

The Capitol insurrection was a violent act of terrorism. Trump sat back and watched with glee as his supporters committed an attempted coup for him. In fact, he refused to send the National Guard to quell the insurrection for three hours even as his own son and Fox News hosts begged him to end the violence.

He knew what was happening. He only allowed the National Guard to come in after it became clear that his coup attempt had failed. He knew about the insurrection. He likely planned it. And he certainly incited it. Trump should not be allowed to turn January 6th into some kind of national holiday. The Justice Department must arrest and prosecute him for his role in the insurrection. If they don’t we can expect Trump to try again.
