After nearly a year of tolerating Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-Ga.) lies about the 2020 election and misinformation about the coronavirus pandemic, Twitter has finally permanently suspended her account.

Greene has spent the past year on Twitter making excuses for the insurrectionists who violently stormed the Capitol on January 6th in an attempt to overthrow democracy. She has spread anti-vaxxer messages while pushing the use of livestock medicine Ivermectin as a treatment for coronavirus.

In addition, Greene has frequently used her Twitter platform to bully Democrats and incite violence against them. And let’s not forget her unfounded attacks on President Joe Biden and lies about the 2020 Election.

Greene’s account has been temporarily suspended before. But now it’s permanently suspended after she repeatedly posted COVID misinformation this week.

Twitter made the move nearly a year after permanently suspending Donald Trump’s account just days after the January 6th insurrection to prevent further incitement of violence. Of course, Trump continues to spread his lies on Twitter through surrogates who should also be banned.

Predictably, Greene threw a hissy fit over Twitter’s decision.

“Social media platforms can’t stop the truth from being spread far and wide,” Greene whined in a statement. “Big Tech can’t stop the truth. Communist Democrats can’t stop the truth. I stand with the truth and the people. We will overcome!”

Again, nothing Greene spewed on Twitter was the truth. It was propaganda and outright lies to feed her conspiracy-loving right-wing supporters. Twitter should have permanently suspended her account sooner, and the platform should suspend other Republican accounts for doing the same thing, including the House Judiciary GOP for posting misinformation about the COVID booster shots.

Greene has only herself to truly blame for the loss of her Twitter account. She repeatedly violated community standards that every user must agree to when opening an account. She abused her platform and endangered the lives of millions of Americans in the process. Now she has no Twitter account and no committee assignments.
