Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) jumped to attack President Joe Biden on Thursday for telling the truth about the Capitol insurrection and slamming Donald Trump’s scheme to overthrow democracy.
Biden came out swinging on the anniversary of the January 6th riot by Trump supporters in a speech roundly condemning them and Trump for ignoring the will of the American people.
“Those who stormed this Capitol and those who instigated this incident held a dagger at the throat of America and American democracy,” Biden said. “They came here in rage, not in the service of America, but rather, in the service of one man. The former president of the United States of America has created and spread a web of lies about the 2020 election. His bruised ego matters more to him than our democracy or our constitution.”
Trump would respond by throwing a temper tantrum complete with more lies.
And rather than side with Biden in defense of democracy, Graham shrunk back into his role of Trump toady to also attack Biden, even going so far as to suggest Biden’s speech is Taliban approved.
What brazen politicization of January 6 by President Biden.
I wonder if the Taliban who now rule Afghanistan with al-Qaeda elements present, contrary to President Biden’s beliefs, are allowing this speech to be carried?

His tweet did not go over very well at all, especially because of Graham’s previous statements on the insurrection.
From the senator who, a year ago today, watched what happened at the Capitol and declared: “Enough is enough.” https://t.co/vY0GMZGyYu

It was ENTIRELY political. And you’re on the wrong side of it.

JANUARY 6 WAS ALREADY POLITICIZED BY THE REPUBLICANS WHO STORMED THE CAPITOL LINDSEY.
My god, where was the guy who had “enough” a year ago? Did you leave him on the fainting couch?

Lindsay as a combat veteran who served several times in Iraq between 04-09 I can tell you that the people who were involved on this day one year ago are no different than the ones who didn’t want free elections in Iraq.

January 6th was domestic terrorism, my dude. Terrorism is inherently political.

“how dare he politicize the event where people stabbed cops with TRUMP 2020 flags”

It should also be pointed out that Graham tried to pressure the Georgia Secretary of State to rig the election for Trump, therefore helping Trump incite his supporters to violence on January 6th. He should be held accountable as well. The insurrection was a terrorist attack on our country by right-wingers. And they will try again if they and their leaders are not punished to the fullest extent that the law allows.
