Sen. Mike Rounds (R-SD) simply couldn’t help himself, even though he must have known that what he was about to say during an appearance on Fox News would come back to bite him.

Rounds was speaking with Fox State Department Correspondent Benjamin Hall, who told the senator that while the people of Ukraine say they’re incredibly thankful for what United States has done so far to aid them in their war to repel Russian invaders, they still need a better air defense.

The senator responded:

“It’s been great that we’ve been able to get as many of those weapons in as already — as we have. But we’ve got — we’ve got more on the way and, uh, we clearly support them. We want them to be successful in this and we’d love to have them retain their country. Clearly, they’re brave. They are fighting and there’s a whole lot of us that are doing everything we can to assist them.”

We clearly support them? Is that right, Senator Rounds? Because you — along with 30 other Republicans in the Senate — voted against the most recent funding for Ukraine. Here’s the full list:

Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, John Boozman of Arkansas, Mike Braun of Indiana, Richard Burr of North Carolina, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Tom Cotton of Arkansas, Kevin Cramer of North Dakota, Mike Crapo of Idaho, Ted Cruz of Texas, Steve Daines of Montana, Deb Fischer of Nebraska, Bill Hagerty of Tennessee, Josh Hawley of Missouri, John Hoeven of North Dakota, Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, John Kennedy of Louisiana, James Lankford of Oklahoma, Mike Lee of Utah, Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming, Roger Marshall of Kansas, Rand Paul of Kentucky, Jim Risch of Idaho, Mitt Romney of Utah, Mike Rounds of South Dakota, Marco Rubio of Florida, Ben Sasse of Nebraska, Rick Scott of Florida, Tim Scott of South Carolina, Dan Sullivan of Alaska, Thom Tillis of North Carolina and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania.

Exactly ZERO Democrats voted against the aid package to help Ukraine as they fight off Russian soldiers who are shelling maternity hospitals and destroying apartment complexes with cluster bombs.

Sorry, Sen. Rounds, but actions speak louder than words. And your “support” of Ukraine is little more than hot air and wishful thinking.
