Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) decided to defend the impending overturning of Roe v Wade by the Supreme Court by attacking pro-choice women, and it didn’t go well at all.
A leaked draft majority opinion by Justice Samuel Alito drew mass outrage on Monday because it appears five of the high court’s conservatives are preparing to overturn the landmark 1973 ruling based on their own personal beliefs and the arcane opinion of an English barrister who lived 350 years ago long before the United States or the Constitution ever existed.
And seeing as how the original Roe v Wade ruling had a 7-2 majority, a 5-4 majority overturning it is egregious and undermines precedent and the rule of law. In addition, millions of women across the country will lose their bodily autonomy and privacy.
In response to the outrage, however, Gaetz insulted pro-choice women on Twitter.
How many of the women rallying against overturning Roe are over-educated, under-loved millennials who sadly return from protests to a lonely microwave dinner with their cats, and no bumble matches?

This is a good time to remind everyone that Matt Gaetz is under federal investigation for trafficking an underage girl across state lines so he could have sex with her.
Twitter users, especially women, were not amused by his attack and promptly fired back.

This is how the Republican Party views you women. I don’t know what more you need to motivate you to get involved in midterms NOW and FIERCELY!!!

What EXACTLY does an over-educated Woman look like? Does she have the ability to detect a lecherous, pathetic, child sex trafficking creep easily?
You don’t need a college education for that, Captain Venmo.

59% of abortions are obtained by women who already have children. I’m a married mother of 3. I believe in abortion rights because I know what it is to be pregnant and I know what it is to be a mother. It should absolutely be a choice.

Thank you for letting us know what the Republicans think about women who can think for themselves. We will return the favor by voting every Republican out of every office.

I’m a Republican that will vote straight democrat ticket.

I’m a late 50’s, white, married, suburban Christian mom from one of the reddest counties in Texas. I DO NOT want to overturn #RoeVWade. I vote, contribute to campaigns, and love my country. And women, young and old, are going to unseat every Republican extremist in this country.

Gaetz should be indicted long before he stands for re-election in November in many Americans’ view, but on the off-chance he isn’t, he has provided an insult that women will remember when they cast their votes.
