Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) apparently doesn’t realize that many conservative women are pro-choice because he vilely attacked pro-choice women on Saturday by claiming they are too ugly to get pregnant. Seriously.
The Supreme Court’s terrible decision to overturn Roe v Wade outraged women across the country. A majority of Americans disapprove of the ruling and support abortion rights. The ruling especially has the potential to result in a high turnout of women at the voting booth this November, which could be disastrous for the Republican Party as they seek to take over the majority in Congress.
The last thing the GOP needs is for women to be even angrier and more motivated to flock to the polls than they already are, but Gaetz couldn’t keep his big mouth shut while speaking at Turning Point USA’s Student Action Summit over the weekend in Tampa.
During his remarks, Gaetz lashed out at pro-choice women by calling them too ugly to get pregnant.
“Why is it that the women with the least likelihood of getting pregnant are the ones most worried about having abortions?” Gaetz asked. “Nobody wants to impregnate you if you look like a thumb.”

Question: misogyny, what does it look like?

This isn’t the first time that Gaetz went out of his way to insult women over abortion rights as this remark was similar to one he made on Twitter earlier this year.
How many of the women rallying against overturning Roe are over-educated, under-loved millennials who sadly return from protests to a lonely microwave dinner with their cats, and no bumble matches?

Clearly, Gaetz is wrong. But it’s also from a guy who is an accused child sex trafficker and is under investigation by the Justice Department.
His attacks on women are likely to backfire against him and the GOP. Again, there are even Republican women who are pro-choice and will feel alienated and insulted. Matt Gaetz should apologize, but the damage has been done.
