House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) challenged Donald Trump to testify under oath to the January 6th Committee by accusing him of being “not man enough” to comply with the subpoena.
The committee dramatically issued a subpoena to Trump this week seeking his testimony after months of investigating the Capitol insurrection and the assault on democracy that he incited in January 2021.
Now the question is whether Trump will actually show up to testify. Trump seemed eager to do so but his hack lawyers are not on board. Trump would be under oath and it’s likely he would repeatedly perjure himself unless he pleads the fifth as he did in the New York fraud investigation in August.
On Sunday, Pelosi, who courageously sought intervention from the National Guard and law enforcement in contradiction to Trump’s claim otherwise, tried to goad him into testifying by using language Trump would use to describe his critics and opponents.
“I don’t think he is man enough to show up,” she told MSNBC. “I don’t think that his lawyers will want him to show up, because he has to testify under oath. But I don’t think he is man enough. We will see if he is man enough to show up and the public can make their judgment. No one is above the law! If we believe that, then they should make a judgment about how he responds to that request.”
Pelosi also restated her confidence that Democrats will keep control of the House after the midterm election in November, and slammed “what’s-her-name” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) for demanding more power.

The likelihood that Trump will testify is slim. It’s more likely that he will plead the fifth or claim that his lawyers are preventing him from appearing. He’s a coward and a liar. But Pelosi knows that Trump is easily provoked so it should be interesting to see how he responds. Maybe Pelosi will get her chance to punch him in the face after all.
