Jill Biden is making it look a lot like Christmas again at the White House. The First Lady introduced the world to her vision of Christmas at the White House. Needless to say, her attitude about it is a far cry than what Melania Trump felt about it during the previous administration.

Drawing inspiration from America’s historic and founding documents, Dr. Jill Biden chose a “We the People” theme to fill the White House halls with holiday cheer and as a reminder to Americans of what unites them throughout the year, especially during the holidays.

Of course, she didn’t do all the work herself, as no first lady does. She had a small army of volunteers help her with the transformation. Journalists were given a sneak peek earlier in the day.

As part of her initiative to support military families, Joining Forces, Biden was joined by National Guard leaders from across the country, as well as National Guard families. Many remember that her late son, Beau Biden, was a major in the Delaware Army National Guard.

“I’ve seen it everywhere I’ve gone. When our country comes together, we are stronger,” she said. “What we share is so much greater than the things that pull us apart. The soul of our nation is, and has always been, ‘we the people.”

By contrast, Melania Trump was recorded expressing her frustration at representing America at Christmastime and following in a tradition shared by other first ladies.

“I’m working … my a** off on the Christmas stuff, that, you know, who gives a f*** about the Christmas stuff and decorations? But I need to do it, right?” she said.

A new addition this year is a menorah that was built by White House carpenters from wood that was removed during a Truman-era renovation. The menorah is located on the State Floor.

Some 50,000 visitors are expected to come through the White House during the holidays, including tourists and guests and those invited to various receptions. That includes French President Emmanuel Macron, who will meet with President Biden on Thursday and be honored that evening at a White House state dinner. It will be the Biden’s first state dinner since he took office.
