A lot of eyebrows raised when it became known that Marjorie Taylor Greene, who had been kicked off all of her committee assignments during the last Congress, was going to be appointed to the Homeland Security Committee by Kevin McCarthy. Since that announcement, America has now reminded us why MTG does not belong there in any way, shape, or form. The fact that she got that perk in exchange for her vote to make McCarthy speaker says a boatload about both her and McCarthy.

Before she officially joined Congress in 2021, Greene gave an interview to “American Priority” where she dredged up a very old and very debunked 9/11 “Truther” conspiracy theory involving the Pentagon.

“We had witnessed 9/11, right?” said Greene in the interview. “We had witnessed 9/11. The terrorist attack in New York, and the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania, and the so-called plane that crashed into the Pentagon. It’s odd there’s never any evidence shown for a plane in the Pentagon.”

Greene isn’t “just asking questions” there. In fact, the only “question” she actually asks is making sure “we had witnessed 9/11, right?” From there, she respreads the conspiracy theory in her statements by referring to a “so-called plane” and stating that there is no evidence of a plane. All of which is false and thoroughly debunked.

We know that American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the west side of the Pentagon on 9/11, with security camera footage showing the impact and photographic evidence showing aircraft debris at the crash site. However, debunked conspiracy theorists claim say it was actually some sort of missile, and some 9/11 conspiracy theorists have circulated edited footage that appears to show a CNN reporter claiming there was no aircraft debris.

Let us also not forget that MTG was booted from her committee assignments after posting about executing Democrats on Twitter. Furthermore, she has praised and supported Qanon in the past. On top of all that, she has touted other conspiracy theories like that Jewish “space lasers” started some California wildfires.

This is who Kevin McCarthy thinks should be on The Homeland Security Committee? A committee created after 9/11 specifically because of the attack — which was very real.

This is what Kevin McCarthy thinks a vote is worth? This level of sellout of America’s security? he is literally letting a fox into the henhouse. But that is apparently alright with McCarthy because he got the Speakership he so craved.

Of course, Greene’s lust for McCarthy handing her more power is no surprise. In fact, she bragged about it before the election.

“I think that to be the best speaker of the House and to please the base, he’s going to give me a lot of power and a lot of leeway,” she said. “And if he doesn’t, they’re going to be very unhappy about it. I think that’s the best way to read that. And that’s not in any way a threat at all. I just think that’s reality.”

And it isn’t just Democrats up in arms over this blatant betrayal of the American people for the sake of power. Denver Riggleman, a decorated military veteran and former Virginia congressman blasted this move and posted the above interview on his social media. Riggleman also made a statement condemning Greene.

“One of my closest friends was in the Pentagon when the plane hit. I deployed ten days after 9/11,” wrote Riggleman, “Any idiot who says the ‘so-called plane that crashed into the Pentagon’ and says there is no evidence for said plane is a mentally deranged fool.”

The only question that remains is if Marjorie Taylor Greene or Kevin McCarthy is the more mentally deranged fool?
