The MSNBC “Morning Joe” panel reacted to Donald Trump’s late-night outburst where he threatened “death and destruction” if he is indicted in a Manhattan courtroom, agreeing that the former president is becoming increasingly scared and unmoored from reality.
Trump took to his Truth Social account to express his outrage at Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, writing: “What kind of person can charge another person, in this case a former President of the United States, who got more votes than any sitting President in history, and leading candidate (by far!) for the Republican Party nomination, with a Crime, when it is known by all that NO Crime has been committed, & also known that potential death & destruction in such a false charge could be catastrophic for our Country?”
Al Sharpton, MSNBC host, commented: “Beneath it all, from when I knew Donald Trump before, I think that he is very nervous. We are looking at a man that is becoming unhinged.” He added that this “shows a man that has lost control. He is hearing footsteps and they’re getting closer.”
Joe Scarborough also weighed in, saying: “The guy is shaking in his boots. Now, of course, he’s threatening the lives of other people. But you read these tweets or whatever you call it on that failing platform, and this is a guy who, you’re right, he’s out of his mind scared. He is melting down. Now, he is threatening riots that will lead to death and destruction if he is charged with a misdemeanor.”
The panel also brought up the point that if anyone else threatened a DA with “death and destruction” they would be in prison before this article was even published. Really, that’s the truth. It doesn’t matter what anyone’s politics are. That was a direct threat, and should be treated as such.
The panel is correct. There is no place in our politics or society even for such threats of “death and destruction.” Especially over what will most likely be a misdemeanor or low level felony that will carry no jail time. They represent everything that is wrong with Donald Trump and the MAGA movement. Racism, antisemitism, and threats of violence.
Donald Trump has given a middle finger to everything this country is built upon. He has done so for his own personal gain. That needs to end now.
