Inspector General Michael Horowitz released his long-awaited report on the origin of the Russia probe, and it turns out that there was no conspiracy to get President Donald Trump. Even FBI Director Christopher Wray agrees with the conclusions of the report, which resulted in Trump lashing out.

Ever since the Russia investigation began, Trump had claimed that the whole thing was a “witch hunt” started by officials who wanted him ousted from office and somehow reverse the 2016 Election. Special Counsel Robert Mueller found that Trump obstructed justice on multiple occasions. Several Trump associates went to prison for their role in the election interference, which also included a meeting between Russian agents and the Trump campaign inside Trump Tower in an effort to seek dirt on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

In other words, the investigation was appropriate and Horowitz cleared the FBI and the Justice Department of wrongdoing.

Of course, Attorney General Bill Barr disagrees with the findings because he’s a devoted Trump lackey. But FBI Director Chris Wray is not. He’s a professional who checks his politics at the door and is only loyal to his country.

Wray told ABC News in an interview Monday afternoon that:

“The inspector general did not find political bias or improper motivations impacting the opening of the investigation or the decision to use certain investigative tools during the investigations … including FISA,”

It was only a matter of time before Trump attacked Wray for not supporting his conspiracy claims. He lashed out on Tuesday morning, even implying that Wray could soon be fired from the FBI for supporting the facts instead of his false accusations.

Clearly, Trump didn’t read the report at all because it completely rejects his claim that FBI and Justice Department officials committed “treason” by investigating him. It also blows apart Republican attacks on the FISA warrants and the courts that signed off on them. That’s embarrassing because it means Trump has been lying about the investigators all along. And now that the Russia investigation was deemed appropriate, the House should tack obstruction of justice to their articles of impeachment against Trump. Because it is now clear that his chief reason for obstructing justice — that he needs to defend himself against traitorous forces out to get him — has been rejected as well.
