Disgraced Florida retiree Donald Trump demanded that President Joe Biden “resign in disgrace” in response to the Taliban taking over Afghanistan, a takeover that Trump himself aided.

Trump negotiated the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan with the Taliban and helped free 5,000 Taliban fighters from prison. Many of those fighters are part of the force that violently took control of the country this week, culminating in the sacking of Kabul over the weekend.

If anyone is to blame for the fall of Afghanistan, it’s Trump. But Trump won’t take responsibility for his failures. Instead, he issued a statement demanding Biden’s resignation and continued to repeat his election lies.

“It is time for Joe Biden to resign in disgrace for what he has allowed to happen in Afghanistan, along with the tremendous surge in COVID, the Border catastrophe, the destruction of energy independence, and our crippled economy,” Trump said. “It shouldn’t be a big deal, because he wasn’t elected legitimately in the first place!”

Trump posted his statement on Twitter through his spokesperson’s account, which is a gross violation of Twitter rules.

Again, Biden is not to blame for the withdrawal of American troops. Trump signed the withdrawal agreement. Trump is also to blame for the Taliban sweeping through the country in force since he provided them with thousands of fighters who had been taken out of action, including the man the Taliban just installed in the presidential palace.

Let’s also not forget that COVID killed over 425,000 Americans on Trump’s watch and the recent surge can be blamed on his supporters, who refuse to get vaccinated or wear a mask.

In addition, the economy has been growing and unemployment is down despite Trump’s prediction that it would do the opposite if Biden was elected.

As for Biden’s legitimacy, Trump is the one who needed Russia’s help to win in 2016. Biden won the 2020 race by over 7 million votes in the popular vote and won the electoral vote count by an indisputable margin. He’s the legitimate president.

Trump’s demand is also hypocritical and hollow considering he was impeached twice and refused to resign even though he incited an insurrection to stay in power, blackmailed a foreign country to persecute his political rivals, and is the most scandal-ridden chief executive our country has ever had the misfortune to witness.

He should be in prison.
