During a discussion of diversity training in the U.S. military on Sunday, Fox News host Will Cain declared that the armed forces of this country are now “woke” and that “racism against white people” is a major problem among the men and women who serve.

Speaking with former GOP congressman Alan West, who was in the U.S. Army and served in Iraq, Cain referenced Kelisa Wing, a chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer at the Department Defense who once wrote a book about white privilege, which Cain quoted:

“‘White privilege hurts a lot of people. If you are white you might feel bad about hurting others or you might feel afraid to lose this privilege.'”

According to the ultra white Cain, the sentence was blatantly racist:

“The takeaway when I see this kind of stuff is the willingness and ease with which you castigate an entire group of people. In this case, it’s white. And look, colonel, I’m sure you have experienced racism in your life and it is never a denial that racism, and particularly racism against black Americans exists.

“But it does seem today, there’s a particular acceptance of one form of racism and that is not just tolerated but some ways encouraged. That’s racism against white people! Why is that acceptable?”

So now, according to Will Cain and Fox News, the fact that the U.S. military is trying to be inclusive and point to the blatant racism that existed for centuries in the United States is suddenly reverse racism against white people. How’s that for some tortured logic?

The armed forces of this country weren’t desegregated until 1948, and even then full inclusion by people of color in the American military took decades to implement. If that’s not the ultimate in white privilege, then what is?

Seems that Will Cain and others like him are afraid of American history because it doesn’t fit their narrative. The rest of us understand the importance of fully examining both the good and bad this nation has been a part of over the past 246 years.
