Georgia Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene says she will be supporting Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to be the next Speaker of the House because she’s afraid not doing so will lead to “weak RINO sell-out Republicans” aligning with Democrats and installing their own candidate as Speaker.

During an interview with right-wing podcast host Steve Bannon on Monday, Greene also suggested that Democrats have a secret plan to install Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) as Speaker even though Cheney lost her bid for reelection.

“They are going to open the door and allow Liz Cheney possibly to become Speaker because let me tell you something, that’s who the Democrats — that is who they are throwing around. We have about 20 Republicans in our conference — and this is tragic news for everyone — that to this day respect Liz Cheney for what she has done and how she has worked on the January 6 Committee.”

Greene added that any Republican opposed to McCarthy is the same as the so-called “never Trumpers.”

“Do we want to see that challenge open the door to Nancy Pelosi handing the gavel to Liz Cheney? There is no way in hell I will stand there and allow that to happen.”

Does Greene have any proof of her bizarre conspiracy theory? No. And there have also been rumors that some in the Republican caucus would like to elect former president Donald Trump to serve a Speaker of the House, although any attempt to do so would likely be met with major resistance by many in the GOP who feel the ex-president is one of the main reasons they fared so badly in the midterm election.

Greene likely imagines herself as Speaker one day, but if that happens then Republicans might just as well go ahead and admit they plan to never win another election.
