Over the past several days, as impeachment has progressed in the House, President Donald Trump has repeatedly bragged about new highs reached by the stock market, desperately trying to claim that he’s the reason the markets continue to rise, posting this on Monday:
New Stock Market high! I will never get bored of telling you that – and we will never get tired of winning!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 16, 2019
But as Fox News reporter John Roberts reminded the president, just two weeks ago when the market was flagging, he declared that he didn’t pay any attention to such things:
“If the stock market goes up or down ― I don’t watch the stock market.” President Trump – NATO summit, London 12.3.2019 https://t.co/fLu7wPKcpD

That was all it took for others on social media to weigh in and remind Trump that he constantly says one thing one day and the absolute opposite a day or two later:
“I don’t watch the stock market. I watch jobs.” – President Trump, Dec. 3, 2019 https://t.co/YPydEND0sw

Wait, I thought we WERE going to get tired of winning. Which is it, gramps? Make up your alleged mind.
I know one thing: America sure is tired of you. https://t.co/ayEzO8mM2T

A one-trick-pony never tires of its one trick. But it doesn’t dismiss the 15,000 lies you’ve told, the lives you’ve ruined or how you’ve mangled The Constitution. @realDonaldTrump https://t.co/PfXf8Jbe6p

#IrrationalExuberancePartDeux
You goosed the stock market with the #GOPTaxScam at the expense of record deficits. Manufacturing already entered a recession. Non-farm wage growth stagnant since Jan. GDP growth slowed from 2.9% in 2018 to 2.3% this year. https://t.co/e4hm4jxxnV— Tom Shafer (@TomShafShafer) December 16, 2019
We never got bored of his only ally Fox news putting out polls like this. pic.twitter.com/05d9ILqs86

Later today, perhaps Donald Trump will tell us about how he miraculously won World War II with his brilliant strategy for the D-Day invasion.
