According to President Donald Trump, all Americans should vote for him in November because he’s the person who “saved” health care for the nation and made sure that coverage for those with pre-existing conditions was a guaranteed right, even though that provision was already enshrined into the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare.

On Twitter, Trump responded to ads being run by Democratic presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg which criticize Trump for his attempts to overturn the ACA in court and by repealing the individual mandate:

Of course, the facts suggest otherwise, as NPR reported in October, highlighting five direct attacks on Obamacare:

  • Eliminating the individual mandate
  • Work requirements for those on Medicaid
  • Ending cost-sharing subsidies to insurers
  • Access to short-term “skinny” plans was expanded
  • Funds to facilitate sign-ups via the HealthCare.gov website were slashed

Reaction to Trump’s ridiculous claims regarding how he had “saved” health care coverage for millions was met with scorn:

Donald Trump doesn’t care if anyone has health insurance. And yet, our tax dollars go to subsidize his health care and that of every member of Congress. Sounds like someone is worried he’s going to lose badly come November.
