In honor of Presidents’ Day, the current head of state, Donald Trump, thought he would fire off a tweet to commemorate the holiday, so on Monday morning we got this:
HAPPY PRESIDENT’S DAY!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 17, 2020
First of all, the proper spelling is “Presidents’ Day,” not “President’s Day.” The way Trump spelled it implies that the day belongs to just one president. The correct spelling makes it clear that the day is meant to honor all U.S. presidents.
But it was the very fact that Trump found it necessary to weigh in that seemed to most irritate others on social media. Take a look:
Today is a great day to celebrate all our Presidents who haven’t been impeached.

HAPPY CORRUPT TREASONOUS ILLEGITIMATE OCCUPANT OF THE WHITE HOUSE DAY!
— Andy Ostroy (@AndyOstroy) February 17, 2020
Washington’s Birthday holiday has since evolved to include Lincoln’s Birthday & in some circles, all presidents past & present. In that regard, we consider this #IllegitimatePresident not worth celebrating. Although, his removal from his Oval Office occupancy will certainly be. pic.twitter.com/BrQ1JZVVJK

I miss the days when we actually had one that people could look up to and respect. One that wasn’t a sexual predator, lying con man and disrespectful to fellow politicians. I miss the days when they at least had a IQ above refrigerator temperature. Lol no need to use apostrophe
