Attorney General William Barr gave a rather flippant response when asked about the Department of Justice dropping the case against former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, leading former FBI agent Asha Rangappa to express concern that he’s “strangely confident” about a Trump second term.
Barr directed the DOJ to drop the case against Flynn on Thursday, resulting in outrage from legal experts across the nation.
Upon being asked about how history will remember him for this moment, Barr uttered the “history is written by the winners” trope, which also didn’t go over very well.
Among those who responded to the remark was Rangappa, who pointed out that judging by Barr’s comment, it seems he is “strangely confident” that President Donald Trump will win a second term in November.

2. He’s created multiple internal investigations into investigations trying to find someone who will say that the Russia probe had no basis, since his own IG wouldn’t

4. He’s attempted to undo two cases which have already made their way to the sentencing stage of the federal courts — Stone and Flynn — as well as the case against Putin’s Troll Farm, so that what Mueller did find about Russia won’t have an “official” stamp on it

5. In so doing, he is essentially claiming that working with agents of a foreign power who are trying to interfere in our election isn’t something that should be investigated or punished (see #2), and that foreign adversaries should operated here unencumbered

So, it appears Barr is paving the way for Russia or some other foreign nation to interfere in the 2020 Election to help Trump win, which is why he is “strangely confident” that history will be written in his favor. Americans need to prove him wrong and wipe that cocky smirk off his criminal face.
