Outgoing President Donald Trump’s staffers are working overtime to keep him in power, even going so far as to claim that President-Elect Joe Biden’s inauguration can be postponed despite it being mandated by the Constitution.

As Republicans engage in a seditious scheme to overturn the election results in Congress that will inevitably fail, Trump trade advisor Peter Navarro appeared on Fox News to declare that the inauguration can be postponed, much to the surprise of host Jeanine Pirro.

“I would not be surprised to see a special counsel on this,” Navarro said, going on to insist that outgoing Vice President Mike Pence has power that he doesn’t actually have. “And Vice President Pence, he has the authority to give that 10-day window to do what needs to get done. And I cannot imagine, when he goes through the facts, he won’t vote the right way on that.”

House Republicans tried to sue Pence in a lawsuit claiming that he had the authority to overturn the election results. A federal judge shot it down. Pence’s lawyers even admitted that he has no such power.

Pirro, who as a former judge should know the law, pointed out that January 20th is specifically stated in the Constitution as the day the president’s term in office ends.

“January 20th cannot be changed, that’s constitutional,” Pirro said.

Navarro falsely insisted otherwise.

“Well it can be changed, actually,” he said. “We can go past that date. We can go past that date if we need to. And we have got to get this right. We need to take it [the election] back for the people.”

“Oh! Okay,” Pirro pathetically replied despite knowing better.

The 20th Amendment clearly states:

“The terms of the President and the Vice President shall end at noon on the 20th day of January … and the terms of their successors shall then begin.”

It says NOTHING about going past that date.

“One thing we shouldn’t be strategically gaming is the foundation of this republic,” Navarro ironically quipped since that’s exactly what Trump and Republicans are trying to do.

Perhaps most bizarrely, Navarro claimed that Democrats “used legal means to get to an illegal end,” which does not make any sense whatsoever.

Trump and his Republican co-conspirators have not provided any evidence of election fraud. That’s precisely why all of their claims have been dismissed in at least 60 court cases at every level of the judiciary. This is a coup attempt, and the perpetrators should be arrested and prosecuted for it, Navarro included.
