On Friday, the world lost a legend: Actress Betty White, who died just weeks before she was to celebrate her 100th birthday.

Tributes have poured in from across the world, but the most touching one came from fellow actor Ryan Reynolds, who had a longtime friendship with White, according to HuffPost:

Ryan Reynolds who co-starred with White in “Deadpool” and in 2009’s “The Proposal,” was one of the first of her famous friends to pay their respects on social media. He managed to perfectly capture how many of us are feeling about the loss of someone who brought so much joy and laughter into our lives during the span of her 80-year-plus career.

“The world looks different now. She was great at defying expectation. She managed to grow very old and somehow, not old enough.”

There’s also this clip of White and Reynolds on the set of “The Proposal,” which many have been sharing on social media since news came of White’s passing:

The friendly sparring between the two actors had been going on for years, and White referenced it in an interview she gave to People magazine which was published earlier this week:

“I’ve heard Ryan can’t get over his thing for me. But Robert Redford is The One.”

Reynolds had the perfect comeback for White’s good-natured ribbing:

Thank you for giving the world so much joy, Ms. White. Rest in peace.
