As Russian forces continue to attack Ukraine and Russian President Vladimir Putin issues chilling warnings about how he will retaliate against any nation who dares in interfere with his illegal invasion by using nuclear weapons, the Republican Party is bending over backwards to make it clear that their loyalty is to Putin instead of the leader of the United States.

For example, ex-President Donald Trump has praised Putin, remarking:

“I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, ‘This is genius.’ Putin declares a big portion … of Ukraine, Putin declares it as independent.

“So, Putin is now saying, ‘It’s independent,’ a large section of Ukraine. I said, ‘How smart is that?’ And he’s gonna go in and be a peacekeeper. That’s [the] strongest peace force.”

And now we have 2020 Delaware GOP Senate candidate Lauren Witzke letting the world know that she’s much fonder of a mass murdering tyrant than President Biden.

Asked about the Russian invasion of Ukraine, here’s what Witzke had to say:

“Here’s the deal, Russia is a Christian nationalist nation, actually. I actually support Putin’s right to protect his people and always put his people first, but also protect their Christian values. I identify more with Putin’s Christian values than I do with Joe Biden.

“Putin takes care of his people. He looks out for his people… I can respect that.”

Putin’s “Christian values”? Which values would those be? Poisoning a person who criticizes you with radioactive polonium? Having a political opponent’s head blown off right next to the Kremlin? Or being in league with the Russian mafia that traffics children and sells them into sexual slavery?

If American Republicans are so enamored with Putin, why don’t they have the courage of their convictions, renounce their U.S. citizenship, and move to Moscow? After all, they want to be led by a “Christian,” don’t they?

Just when you think the GOP cannot possible get more disgusting, along comes a Lauren Witzke and proves they haven’t yet reached the bottom.
