The conservative majority of the Supreme Court has apparently overturned Roe v Wade, according to a leaked majority opinion by Justice Samuel Alito, resulting in overwhelming outrage across the country.
The 1973 ruling has protected women’s reproductive rights and privacy for nearly 50 years, but Republicans have rabidly sought to overturn it ever since. And now because the GOP literally stole Supreme Court seats and stacked the bench with extreme right-wing judges, they are now getting what they want, albeit by a smaller margin than the original 7-2 vote in Roe.
While the high court’s ruling was not set to be released yet, a leaked draft of the majority opinion by Alito made its way to the public on Monday.
“Roe was egregiously wrong from the start,” Alito wrote according to Politico. “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled. It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”
The report noted that the draft could have changed and that a ruling is not official until it has been published. However, this leak will no doubt embolden Republicans in red states that have already passed abortion bans in anticipation of the ruling.
Now that conservatives have gutted abortion rights, which a majority of Americans support, including suburban women voters, it has sparked an outcry on Twitter against an “illegitimate” Supreme Court and could result in a potential backlash against the GOP in November.
I am a woman.
My body is mine.
Even if the Supreme Court doesn’t think so.

Right now: Barricades are up around the Supreme Court building, just minutes after reports from Politico were leaked indicating SCOTUS has voted to overturn Roe v. Wade. pic.twitter.com/LxR9rbs6TF

An extremist Supreme Court is poised to overturn #RoeVWade and impose its far-right, unpopular views on the entire country. It’s time for the millions who support the Constitution and abortion rights to stand up and make their voices heard. We’re not going back—not ever.

The illegitimate right-wing majority on the United States Supreme Court is pro-rape, pro-incest, anti-woman, and anti-child. Are you cool with that?

Sotomayor warned that overturning Wade was essentially terminating the legitimacy of the Supreme Court, and by extension the United States
She was right and we would all be wise to get ready for what happens next

Let’s be clear: This is a draft opinion. It’s outrageous, it’s unprecedented, but it is not final.

Tomorrow would be a good day to expand the Supreme Court

Our worst fears are realized:
The Supreme Court has voted to overturn Roe v Wade, per Politico.
IT’S TIME TO HIT THE STREETS.

This is no longer a legitimate Supreme Court. With a single opinion by radical conservative activist judges, millions of women just lost their reproductive rights and privacy. The Supreme Court must either be expanded to snuff out the extremists or it must be eliminated as an institution entirely. This must backfire against Republicans in November. Failure in this endeavor would mean our government becomes a defunct democracy and makes civil war all the more inevitable. Our rights are no longer protected by the judicial branch.
