President Joe Biden’s recognition of LGBTQ Americans and Pride Month marks a return to basic respect and decency in the White House, but Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) would rather be hateful and fearmonger.
The executive branch has a duty to ensure that public schools respect the civil rights of LGBTQ students, something the Trump administration refused to do for four years. Despite Trump’s ouster from office, Republicans in red states like Florida are passing laws to treat LGBTQ Americans like second-class citizens or less, even going so far as to ban discussion of sexuality in the classroom. Basically, a child with two moms or two dads can’t talk about it and other students are forbidden from being taught to understand it.
This is why Republicans are seeking to ban books and control what teachers teach. It’s all about censoring the LGBTQ community and grooming children by only teaching them what conservatives want them to learn, all while excluding LGBTQ students and their families.
To protect LGBTQ students, President Biden is supposedly considering a new rule that would deny federal funding to public schools and colleges that violate their civil rights.
Of course, Rubio threw a fit on Twitter.
Biden will be cutting off Pell Grants, school lunches & billions of other federal education dollars to any school or college that refuses to follow his new & radical transgender & LGBT policies

Again, the executive branch has a duty to protect civil rights. That means denying federal funding to schools and institutions that violate those rights in favor of adhering to bigoted and discriminatory laws enacted by Republicans like Governor Ron DeSantis in Florida.
Twitter users responded to Rubio with ridicule, especially since he hypocritically posts Bible verses on his feed.
Radical transgender and LGBT policies? You mean the ones that treat people with compassion and dignity? You know, like Jesus did.

Good. Public funds come from our tax dollars and as far as I know we don’t exempt LGBTQ+ from paying taxes so they should be represented within our PUBLIC schools. You don’t like it go to a private school.

Not had enough attention lately? You know, because we’ve been dealing with 19 dead kids and two teachers? Focus, little Marco. #Uvalde There’s 4 funerals and one memorial today–you going? No? Bless. Your. Heart.🙄 pic.twitter.com/Rj2zOTDekq

Sounds kind of like Ron DeSantis cutting funds from your home county school district because of their refusal to follow his anti-mask policy.
What did you have to say about that again?

Is inclusion and acceptance considered radical? What would Jesus do Marco?

Nothing President Biden is doing is “radical” by any definition of the word. This is about protecting the basic civil rights of Americans that Republicans want so badly to discriminate against. Marco Rubio is a false Christian, an ineffective and dangerous senator, and a sorry excuse for an American citizen. The people of Florida deserve better, and that’s why they should vote for Rep. Val Demings (D-Fla.) in November.
