Desperate for a scapegoat to blame the coronavirus pandemic on to cover for his reckless response to the virus, President Donald Trump announced his decision to withhold critical funding to the World Health Organization (WHO).

During yet another joke of a press conference on the White House lawn, Trump attacked the World Health Organization by accusing the international body of “severely mismanaging and covering up” the pandemic, thus projecting again since he called the virus a “hoax” in February even after the WHO declared the outbreak a pandemic in January.

“With the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have deep concerns about whether America’s generosity has been put to the best use possible,” Trump said. “The reality is that the WHO failed to adequately obtain and share information in a timely and transparent fashion. It could have been contained at its source.”

No, it couldn’t have been contained at the source. We still don’t entirely understand how this virus spreads and today’s modern transportation system made spreading the virus inevitable. However, Trump is once again projecting because he had plenty of warning that this pandemic was coming, yet he refused to act. Had he done so earlier, thousands of lives could have been saved.

And so, Trump is cutting off funding for the World Health Organization, roughly $57 million. But he wasn’t done making accusations or projecting.

“The WHO failed to investigate credible reports from sources in Wuhan that conflicted directly with the Chinese government’s official accounts,” he said.

Trump eliminated a key CDC position in China. The person who filled the position would have been close to what was happening in Wuhan when the virus hit, and could have provided information to the United States. Trump also disbanded the Pandemic Response team.If anybody screwed up the response to the pandemic, it was Trump, and he’s still screwing it up.
