President Donald Trump has scheduled his first rally in months, but he chose the wrong city and the wrong day as mass protests against racial injustice continue across the country.

On Wednesday, Trump announced that he is holding the rally in Tulsa on June 19th. If this were any other administration, this may not be problematic. But Trump is one of the most racist and narcissistic presidents in our history, so the site and date of the rally is an insult to the black community.

According to The Daily Beast:

The date and location of the rally are significant—June 19th marks Juneteenth, the anniversary of the emancipation of the last enslaved African-Americans in the Confederacy. Tulsa was the site of a racist massacre in 1921, when mobs of white people destroyed the Greenwood District, which was known as “Black Wall Street,” for being the wealthiest black community in the country. The attackers murdered dozens of Greenwood residents.

So, Tulsa is not the best city to hold this rally on this particular date because it appears that Trump is insulting black people and trying to make the day all about himself.

Former Vice President Joe Biden’s campaign communication director slammed the announcement.

Trump is desperate to hold a rally, but he should reschedule it and hold it somewhere else. It’s a tone-deaf decision to hold it in Tulsa on Juneteenth and only proves that Trump has zero respect for African Americans. He isn’t trying to join them in solidarity with their cause, he’s taunting them as a white supremacist would do.
