President Donald Trump wants his face carved into Mount Rushmore, and the White House actually asked South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem if that would be possible.

There are currently only four presidents featured on Mount Rushmore, including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln.

There is no room for a fifth because the rock simply is not stable enough to accommodate another carving. Furthermore, Trump is NOT worthy of such an honor. In many American’s opinions, he’s not even worthy to shine the shoes of the former presidents he is obsessed with joining on the mountainside.

But the New York Times reported that a White House aide inquired about the process to add other presidents, presumably on Trump’s behalf.

Frankly, the mountain formerly known as the Four Grandfathers has already been insulted enough by being desecrated for the purpose of carving the faces of four white presidents into it. Adding Trump’s face would be desecration upon desecration. We might as well raze Mount Rushmore to the ground.

Trump even went so far as to tell Noem during their first meeting that he wants to be on Mount Rushmore.

“He said, ‘Kristi, come on over here. Shake my hand,'” Noem told South Dakota’s Argus Leader. “I shook his hand, and I said, ‘Mr. President, you should come to South Dakota sometime. We have Mount Rushmore.’ And he goes, ‘Do you know it’s my dream to have my face on Mount Rushmore?’ “I started laughing,” she said. “He wasn’t laughing, so he was totally serious.”

Noem would go on to pander to Trump’s ego during his later visit to South Dakota by presenting him with a four-foot replica of Mount Rushmore with his face carved into it. Seriously.

Clearly, there are no sacred grounds, no sacred monuments, and no sacred buildings that Trump won’t spoil with his presence. He has repeatedly used the Lincoln Memorial as a prop and he wants to use the White House as a prop for his renomination speech. He has disgraced Arlington National Cemetery on multiple occasions, insulted George Washington’s Mount Vernon estate, and opened up Camp David as a playground for his Republican allies. He’s even considering delivering his nomination acceptance speech at the hallowed ground of Gettysburg.

Everything always has to be about him even though the majority of Americans, according to recent polling, want him gone.

This revelation about him wanting his face on Mount Rushmore is just horrifying to many. But Noem did extend an offer to Trump to pick a mountain for himself. If that happens, it might not be received by Americans the way Trump envisions because presidents who preside over the deaths of more than 160,000 Americans and a cratering economy usually would not receive such honors.
