To those asking if outgoing President Donald Trump would start a war in a desperate play to stay in power, the answer is apparently yes because he sought options to attack Iran in the wake of losing the election.

As we all know, Trump is still scheming to somehow remain in power despite losing big against Biden. To that effort, he has fired several top Pentagon officials and has replaced them with loyalists, signaling that he might try to use the military to stay in office. While Trump’s newly placed cronies definitely makes that scenario a possibility, it also makes it easier for Trump to start a war overseas, such as against Iran.

Of course, attacking Iran would start a major war, which he could then try to use to declare a national emergency to delay leaving office in January. And it turns out that Trump demanded options for attacking Iran not long after losing the election.

According to the New York Times:

President Trump asked senior advisers in an Oval Office meeting on Thursday whether he had options to take action against Iran’s main nuclear site in the coming weeks. The meeting occurred a day after international inspectors reported a significant increase in the country’s stockpile of nuclear material, four current and former U.S. officials said on Monday.

A range of senior advisers dissuaded the president from moving ahead with a military strike. The advisers — including Vice President Mike Pence; Secretary of State Mike Pompeo; Christopher C. Miller, the acting defense secretary; and Gen. Mark A. Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff — warned that a strike against Iran’s facilities could easily escalate into a broader conflict in the last weeks of Mr. Trump’s presidency.

Trump’s attempt to start a war could also be a petty attempt to poison foreign relations between Iran and the incoming Biden administration. After all, Biden intends to bring back the Iran nuclear deal negotiated under former President Barack Obama, a deal that reduced Iran’s nuclear stockpile and the threat of Iran developing a nuclear weapon. Iran had been fully complying with the deal when Trump unilaterally withdrew from it, a decision that has only caused more problems and escalated tensions ever since.

It now appears that Trump is aiming to sabotage Biden’s presidency before it even begins in retaliation for losing the election. Clearly, Trump is too dangerous to be allowed to stay in office through January 20th. He needs to be removed right now before he starts a war that puts tens of thousands of troops at risk and will cost taxpayers trillions. This level of pettiness cannot be tolerated.
