An enormous winter storm hit the states of Texas and Oklahoma over the weekend, causing traffic accidents and leaving tens of thousands without any electricity, with more bad weather expected in the days ahead.

As damage continued to mount in the Lone Star State, Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) asked President Joe Biden to declare an emergency so that federal aid and assistance could begin to flow:

Texas GOP Sens. Ted Cruz and John Cornyn also begged Biden for the emergency declaration:

And yet, this is the very same state of Texas that just a month ago introduced a bill in the legislature to secede from the rest of the United States. That bill was heartily endorsed by the Texas GOP.

So Texas Republicans want to become an independent nation, but they also want federal disaster aid? How’s that for hypocrisy?
