Former Trump administration economic adviser Larry Kudlow is very upset because he believes that President Joe Biden’s plan to address climate change is about to upend life as we know it in the United States and result in us all having to drink (GASP!) “plant-based beer.”

HuffPost notes that Kudlow must be talking about some beer made of steak or tacos that we’re all currently drinking:

“Apparently the man who declared COVID-19 ‘contained close to airtight‘ before more than 570,000 Americans died is not talking about the beer everyone drinks now. That’s typically made from grains, hops and yeast — and not an ounce of steak. (Additives may include animal products, like gelatin, but beer is definitely plant based.)”

Gimme a six-pack of filet mignon lite, please. And don’t forget the lamb wine.

Kudlow’s bizarre criticism came Friday on his Fox Business show, which is where he was working before he scored his gig in the failed Trump administration, and it was only the beginning of the horrors he envisioned if even a smidgen of the Green New Deal were to be implemented, because it would, he asserted, lead to an end of the “country’s consumption of meat, eggs, cheese and dairy. None of that’s true; there’s nothing in the text of the plan that would ban those products.”

“Nevertheless, he insisted that Americans would be left to ‘grill’ Brussels spouts on July 4th (which are apparently bad not only because they’re vegetables but also first became popular in Brussels, so not very nativist), and drink that horrible beer.

“Speaking of stupid,” he begins. “America has to, get this, America has to stop eating meat, stop eating poultry and fish, seafood, eggs, dairy and animal-based fats. Okay, got that? No burgers on July 4th. No steaks on the barbecue … So get ready. You can throw back a plant-based beer with your grilled Brussels sprouts and wave your American flag.”

It didn’t take long before Twitter lit up with postings reminding Kudlow that beer is much better when it’s made of plants:

Whatever Larry Kudlow has been drinking, it sounds like he needs to cut back and seek professional help.
