Despite his bizarre rant on the House floor in which he declared that the definition of being a woman is “XX chromosomes, no tallywhacker,” Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.) just got caught cross-dressing in women’s lingerie. You can’t make this stuff up.

Cawthorn’s support in North Carolina has fallen tremendously in recent months, especially since he claimed that Republican members of Congress invited him to cocaine-fueled orgies.

While that was apparently the last straw for many Republicans, it ignores all the other things that Cawthorn has said and done that make him unfit to serve in Congress, a list that his hometown newspaper provided in detail.

But now Cawthorn is embroiled in yet another scandal as he and his party wage a culture war against transgender issues and the wider LGBTQ community.

It turns out that Cawthorn slipped into women’s lingerie during a party prior to being elected to Congress and looked quite thrilled about it in pictures published by Politico.

Cawthorn appears to go as far as he can to pretend to be a woman in the pictures, even touching himself suggestively and wearing jewelry. Clearly, this is not the kind of image the GOP needs out in the world for the entire American public to see. It makes Cawthorn, and Republicans in general, look like hypocrites.

Of course, Cawthorn didn’t see a problem.

Again, this is a man whose party has declared that men are men and women are women and men can’t dress in women’s clothing or they are not really a man. The GOP has also frequently presented itself as the party of “Christian values.”

Twitter users certainly had a field day.
