Lara Trump: Biden to blame for California church shooting because he ‘says crazy-sounding things’

While the horrific mass shooting in Buffalo, New York garnered most of the attention over the weekend, there was another shooting at Geneva Presbyterian Church in Laguna Woods, California, according to The Washington Post:

A gunman killed one person and wounded five others at a church in Southern California on Sunday, authorities said, the second high-profile mass shooting to shake the country in just over 24 hours.

The attack happened during a lunch reception hosted by a Taiwanese congregation after a Sunday service at Geneva Presbyterian Church in Laguna Woods, a small city in Orange County, church leaders and police said.

While the Buffalo shooter was apparently inspired by right-wing conspiracy theories about white Americans being “replaced” by people of color, the motive of the California church shooter remains unknown.

But that didn’t stop Lara Trump, the wife of Eric Trump, from speculating that pro-choice rhetoric from President Joe Biden was the cause.

On her Fox News program, the ex-president’s daughter-in-law claimed it’s “very dangerous” when you have a president “who just kind of says crazy-sounding things.”

The irony of such a statement is obvious: Former President Donald Trump repeatedly said bizarre, inflammatory, and dangerous things on multiple occasions while serving in office. Here’s a brief reminder of a few things that came from the ex-president:

  • After hearing that bleach and Lysol can kill the coronavirus on surfaces, got behind the podium in the White House briefing room and declared, “I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute, one minute. … Is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside, or almost a cleaning, because, you see, it gets in the lungs, and it does a tremendous number on the lungs?”
  • That time he couldn’t admit he was wrong when he tweeted that Hurricane Dorian was going to hit Alabama, and so he drew on a weather map with a Sharpie to make it seem like he was right.
  • That time he asked members of the National Security Council if they could nuke hurricanes rather than letting them hit the U.S.

If “crazy-sounding things” were the cause of mass shootings, there would have been five a day when Donald was still in the White House.
