The internet, the gift that keeps on giving.

This week, reports surfaced, and were not directly denied by the White House communications office, that President Trump asked some downright bizarre questions about different solutions to curb immigration numbers. These included shooting people in the leg and putting a moat filled with alligators along our southern border with Mexico.

Privately, the president had often talked about fortifying a border wall with a water-filled trench, stocked with snakes or alligators, prompting aides to seek a cost estimate. He wanted the wall electrified, with spikes on top that could pierce human flesh. After publicly suggesting that soldiers shoot migrants if they threw rocks, the president backed off when his staff told him that was illegal. But later in a meeting, aides recalled, he suggested that they shoot migrants in the legs to slow them down. That’s not allowed either, they told him.

While this might not come as a huge shock to some, to many it is a disturbing sign of the incompetence inside the Oval Office.

But, like with many things, there is another side to all this.

Video has surfaced from a 2011 speech by former President Barack Obama that makes it seem like he could perhaps travel through time. He essentially describes the “border hysteria” that Trump and his supporters seem to have these days. And yes, it includes the moat with alligators.

While this is all funny, it is also important to note that these “crazy ideas” are actually being touted in the White House by the POTUS himself. Fortunately, so far, the people around him have been able to nix these notions before they ever became an actual policy. But who knows what other “ideas” are being put out there by The Donald now?
