A week ago, President Donald Trump was whining that his impeachment was unfair and illegal, even suggesting that he might take the issue to the Supreme Court, even though it has zero jurisdiction over matters related to impeachment:
Just landed in the United Kingdom, heading to London for NATO meetings tomorrow. Prior to landing I read the Republicans Report on the Impeachment Hoax. Great job! Radical Left has NO CASE. Read the Transcripts. Shouldn’t even be allowed. Can we go to Supreme Court to stop?

Now, however, Trump is demanding that Congressional Democrats hurry up with the process, suggesting Thursday morning on Twitter that a fast Senate trial would allow him to “clean the swamp.” Take a look:
The Do Nothing Democrats had a historically bad day yesterday in the House. They have no Impeachment case and are demeaning our Country. But nothing matters to them, they have gone crazy. Therefore I say, if you are going to impeach me, do it now, fast, so we can have a fair….

…..trial in the Senate, and so that our Country can get back to business. We will have Schiff, the Bidens, Pelosi and many more testify, and will reveal, for the first time, how corrupt our system really is. I was elected to “Clean the Swamp,” and that’s what I am doing!

Sorry, Donald, but you don’t get to decide anything regarding your impeachment. That will all be determined by Congress, and there’s nothing you can do to speed things up or make the process operate according to your personal wishes.
The responses to Trump’s wild social media ramblings were on point:
“We?” The Senate is not supposed to be a “we.” It’s a co-equal branch of government charged with overseeing the Executive. There’s no “we.” Unless you’re all a bunch of despicably corrupt traitors and the fix is in…which of course you are and it is…#Trump #ImpeachmentHearing

You last act before your inauguration was to settle the Trump University case for $25 million.
You have been fined $2 million for stealing from charity.
Manafort and Cohen are in jail.
Stone and Giuliani are going to jail.
Tell me more about ‘draining the swamp’…

They don’t have to send it to the Senate, even when complete. The House can just impeach you and leave it hanging around your neck like a big red letter “I” for the remainder of your presidency.

@realDonaldTrump really wants to prove he’s done nothing wrong by having literally anyone but himself testify.

Later today, maybe Trump will tell us all about how he’s going to balance the budget with more tax cuts for the rich.
