When it comes to being a sycophantic suck up, Vice President Mike Pence is an absolute master, always eager and willing to shower President Donald Trump with praise and devotion.
But something Pence said Thursday while speaking at a “Life Wins!” event in Raleigh, North Carolina, was so blatantly over the top and untrue that it set off a thunderous round of mockery and ridicule aimed squarely at the VP.
Specifically, Pence remarked:
“I always tell people that to know President Trump is to know someone whose word is his bond.”

Donald Trump’s word is his bond?! Now that’s funny!
Since he took office, according to the Washington Post, Trump has made more than 20,000 false or misleading claims. He lies when he’d be better served by the truth. Hell, he lies as often as he breathes!
That was all it took for Twitter to respond with ridicule for the Veep, who was clearly engaging in what can most charitably be called heavily inflated exaggeration:
20,000 lies while in office as of July.
He averages 12 lies a day.
His word isn’t his bond.
He’s literally incapable of telling the truth.
He lies about everything, big and small.
Crowd size and Stormy Daniels, the place his father was born.
All lies.https://t.co/5DJFaqC7NB pic.twitter.com/EBgaqkrlXT— Jo (@JoJoFromJerz) September 3, 2020
Do you think these guys wake up in the morning and say to themselves ‘What is the craziest thing I can say in defense of the boss today?’ Or maybe they have a bet going with other WH colleagues as to who can go out furthest on a limb for POTUS? https://t.co/xsvQdsisrj

This is a ridiculous statement. It would make more sense with a laugh track. https://t.co/oeeudGn8qe

It’s the *very* deep breath before the hilariously obvious and insulting lie that makes this. https://t.co/Q2aeFUGk2a
