Outgoing President Donald Trump should be focusing on the coronavirus pandemic right now, but he ignored it once again in order to take credit for something he had nothing to do with during a press conference he quickly fled because he couldn’t handle questions from the press.

The Dow Jones hit 30,000 for the first time in history on Tuesday, so Trump gathered the press so he could take credit for it.

“The stock market, it’s just broken 30,000,” Trump bragged. “Never broken that number. That’s a sacred number. Nobody thought they would ever see it. That’s the ninth time since the beginning of 2020 and it’s the 48th time that we have broken records in — during the Trump administration. And I just want to congratulate all the people within the administration. And most of all, I want to congratulate the people of our country because there are no people like you.”

Trump’s narcissistic party did not last long, however, as just one minute in he turned tail and exited as reporters peppered him with questions about whether or not he will now concede the 2020 Election to President-Elect Joe Biden.

Let’s not forget that Trump refused to take responsibility for the stock market when it crashed below 20,000 in the midst of his reckless and incompetent response to the pandemic, which has now killed over 260,000 Americans and has nearly brought the economy to its knees. Millions of Americans are suffering and main street is getting pounded even while Wall Street gets richer.

Trump can brag about the stock market all he wants, the stock market is not the true measure of economic success or failure. Furthermore, it should be pointed out the the stock market began a meteoric rise after Biden won the election earlier this month and received an additional boost when it became clear that Biden’s transition would be allowed to begin.

In fact, the stock market has performed better since Biden won than it did after Trump won with Russian interference in 2016. So, really it is Biden who should get credit for the new record. But Biden is more concerned with Americans dying than he is about wealthy people getting wealthier.
