In yet another seditious action by a member of the Trump administration, outgoing Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos is begging career staffers to work against incoming President Joe Biden and sabotage any policies he tries to institute.
It’s bad enough that outgoing President Donald Trump is continuing his scheme to overturn the election results and his supporters are engaging in sedition, now his Cabinet members are apparently trying to create a real Deep State to prevent Biden from governing.
Trump and his sycophants frequently claimed that Democrats had created a left-wing “Deep State” designed to hinder his administration even though no such conspiracy ever existed. However, it is Trump and his team who are trying to institute a right-wing Deep State to sabotage Biden and his team after Trump leaves office, a move that would undoubtedly make it more difficult for Biden to reverse all of the damage Trump caused over the last four years.
During a conference call with the entire Education Department, DeVos urged career staffers to “resist” Biden’s attempts to reverse the damage she has caused.
“Let me leave you with this plea: Resist,” DeVos said according to Politico. “Be the resistance against forces that will derail you from doing what’s right for students. In everything you do, please put students first — always.”
There were no such reports like this one during the transition between the Obama and Trump administration after the 2016 Election. That’s because there was no effort to sabotage Trump’s administration. But Trump and his team are clearly out in the open calling for the sabotaging of Biden’s administration, a seditious act that should trigger an investigation and even prosecution of DeVos.
DeVos is already under fire for breaking the law during her time as Education Secretary, even being held in contempt by a federal judge for not complying with court orders. She has also obstructed and lied to Congress.
Furthermore, nothing DeVos has done has been to the benefit of students. She shifted public school funding to private religious institutions, a violation of separation of church and state. She made it easier for rapists to target women on college campuses and get away with their crimes, something she calls an “accomplishment.”
She also contributed to the unsafe working conditions teachers have been forced to deal with during the pandemic because DeVos foolishly demanded that schools reopen, which only increased the number of coronavirus infections and deaths, which now stands at more than 300,000 nationwide.
Thankfully, Biden has assembled a transition team that is ready to hit the ground running at the Education Department on day one. And any staffer who tries to stand in their way should be fired immediately.
