On Monday, Rudy Giuliani was hit with a massive $1.3 billion lawsuit filed against him by Dominion Voting Systems in which the company accused the former New York City mayor of defamation for remarks he’s made about them.

Hours later, Giuliani finally admitted that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are indeed the duly-elected president and vice president, according to Azi Paybarah of the New York Times:

Giuliani had tried to sound unconcerned about the Dominion lawsuit when news broke of the court filing, releasing a statement which read:

“The amount being asked for is, quite obviously, intended to frighten people of faint heart. It is another act of intimidation by the hate-filled left-wing to wipe out and censor the exercise of free speech, as well as the ability of lawyers to defend their clients vigorously. As such, we will investigate a countersuit against them for violating these Constitutional rights.”

Business Insider reports that Giuliani had repeatedly smeared Dominion in the months following the 2020 presidential election:

“Among other things, the former mayor, who is also Trump’s personal defense attorney, suggested after the November election that Dominion and another voting-tech company, Smartmatic, colluded to switch votes from Trump to Biden in battleground states.

“Giuliani and conspiracists like the GOP lawyer Sidney Powell also embraced and amplified the baseless allegation that Democrats and voting-machine companies conspired with dead communist dictators to steal the election from Trump.”

Dominion is also hinting that it may file suit against others who tried to destroy its reputation, including former President Donald Trump and members of conservative media (i.e. Sean Hannity of Fox News) who helped disseminate conspiracy theories and lies about the company.
