As Americans across the country struggle to pay rent or are experiencing eviction because former President Donald Trump failed to properly help as the pandemic raged on, former Trump officials are now feeling the same pain and are whining about it.

Trump appointees worked for the worst president in American history. He has been impeached twice. He incited an insurrection at the Capitol. He refused to concede the 2020 Election. He refused to allow a peaceful and smooth transition. He locked kids in cages. And he downplayed the coronavirus pandemic that has killed over 500,000 Americans and failed to provide the people with proper government aide throughout the crisis.

Most of these former appointees are lucky they are not in jail right now. But they are throwing a fit because they are not getting lump-sum vacation payouts or unemployment benefits. The new round of complaints come after Trump appointees complained about being denied parental leave benefits.

“I’m sitting here going, how do I pay my rent? How do I pay my cellphone bill?” one former Commerce appointee told Politico.

“I have enough money to make it a month, but when rent’s due next month, what happens then? Rent in D.C. isn’t cheap,” another appointee said.

Politico continued:

A former Homeland Security official said she hadn’t received payout of her annual leave, which is more than 200 hours and equivalent to three months of pay. Another former senior DHS official said he also hadn’t gotten his one month of vacation payout, which comes out to about $15,000 minus taxes.

This has not been a problem in past administrations, including transitions from Republicans to Democrats and vice versa. But let’s be honest, Trump appointees are freeloading off taxpayers at a time when Republicans are refusing to use our own taxpayer money to provide us with desperately needed survival checks. Republicans also oppose eviction moratoriums, extended unemployment, healthcare, and other needs Americans have right now. It’s poetic justice that Trump appointees are now struggling, not to mention a huge saving to taxpayers after Trump wasted hundreds of millions of dollars playing golf.

These appointees should have thought about their careers and financial well-being before accepting jobs from Trump. Now they are paying a price. Frankly, that price is not high enough considering the damage Trump did to our nation, damage they aided and abetted.
