According to Rep. Bob Good (R-VA), there’s a very simple explanation for why we have so many problems in society: Because we allow same-sex couples to marry, which Good claims is in direct opposition to what the Bible teaches.
During a debate Tuesday on the Family Violence Prevention and Services Improvement Act, an anti-domestic violence bill, Good laid every single bad thing we see in the United States on the fact that we have the audacity to let people marry who they want:
“Nearly everything that plagues our society can be attributed to a failure to follow God’s laws for morality and his rules for and definition of marriage and family.”

HuffPost notes that right-wingers in Congress have been critical of the legislation, and Good has proved his own massive bigotry ever since he first ran for office:
Conservatives have attacked gender identity provisions of the bill, which seeks to expand support for Americans affected by domestic, family and dating violence.
Democrats had “chosen to attack the very bedrock of our country, the moral principles and the traditional family that hold our families and communities together,” said Good, a former banker and Liberty University fundraiser who describes himself as a “Biblical and constitutional conservative.”
Good, a staunch Donald Trump supporter, has previously called the COVID-19 pandemic “phony,” opposed President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandates, encouraged people not to wear masks and voted to overturn the 2020 election result.
It didn’t take long before social media took Congressman to the proverbial woodshed:
Sadly, this is Good’s bread and butter.
His entire primary campaign was a homophobic crusade to unseat Denver Riggleman for officiating a gay wedding.
The Virginia GOP even censured Denver over it … in the year 2020! https://t.co/OH4Ucs1Bah

There needs to be a separation of Church and state, this type of talk needs to be exposed, his constituents may like this, but people want laws that protect other people, not use a Bible to justify hatred and exclusion

My dad whipped me with a lamp cord, gave my mom a black eye, and chased my brother out of the house while the kid was only in his underwear and this was in the 80’s before same sex marriage was a thing. Pretty sure we had plenty of things plaguing our society before SSM.
