In yet more language suggesting a violent takeover of the federal government, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and Steve Bannon talked about the use of “shock troops” as conservatives continue to fantasize about overthrowing democracy.

January 6th saw Trump supporters violently storm the Capitol in a failed coup attempt organized for the purpose of installing Donald Trump as a dictator after he lost the 2020 Election. One of the reasons why Trump could not institute authoritarianism is because of the strength of America’s institutions.

But those institutions did weaken, and Bannon and Gaetz intend for them to be weakened even more after 2024 if Trump somehow retakes the White House.

“People didn’t like that Donald Trump raised his voice but sometimes you’ve got to raise your voice to raise a ruckus and to raise an army of patriots who love this country and will fight for her,” Gaetz said. “We’re going to operationalize the performance to go right after the people who are imposing the vaccine mandates, who are enriching themselves and who are selling out the country.”

That’s quite a bit of projection and hypocrisy considering that Trump and his cronies enriched themselves and sold out our country on multiple occasions. Also, the use of a term like “army of patriots” to “fight” is rather disturbing considering our nation just suffered an insurrection attempt less than a year ago.

Then Bannon, who is charged with contempt of Congress because he refused to comply with a congressional subpoena, talked about using “shock troops,” which is a term used to describe Nazi troops that were used to quickly and violently take over a location.

“Understand, this is a theory of governing,” Bannon said. “It’s fresh and it’s new. This is Trumpism in power. That’s when we went to the 4,000 shock troops we have to have that’s going to man the government. Get them ready now. Right? We’re going to hit the beach with the landing teams and the beachhead teams and all that nomenclature they use when President Trump wins in 2024 — or before. You’re going to have those as the 4,000 political appointees. No more powderpuff derby. This is going to be hardcore accountability at every committee [in Congress].”

Bannon has used the term “shock troops” before, and it was just as inappropriate and threatening then as it is now.

Gaetz replied by stating that he specifically wants to target the Justice Department and the FBI first.

“Yes,” Gaetz said. “And we’re going to go after this administrative state and we’re going to start at the Department of Justice and the FBI. That’s the job I want. You know, send me over to the Judiciary Committee and their sphincters will tighten because they have been doing a lot of corrupt things over there. I don’t need a new committee, I just need a gavel.”

Here’s the video via YouTube:

Clearly, Gaetz is interested in targeting the DOJ and FBI because he wants to kill the investigation into his alleged sex trafficking of an underage girl. He was also involved in planning the January 6th insurrection, which could result in more charges against him.

Make no mistake, this talk of a hostile takeover of the government is all about instituting authoritarianism and guaranteeing that Republicans are never held accountable for their crimes. That should scare Americans into voting against them in 2022 and 2024.
