Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) is open to giving Donald Trump equal time during the January 6th public hearings, but only on the condition that he be under oath and subject to the penalty of perjury.
Just as the House January 6th Committee prepared for yet another damning presentation of evidence and testimony to the American people in prime time this week, Trump lashed out by throwing a temper tantrum.
He accused the committee of lying and conducting a witch hunt even though he was the one who incited his supporters to violently storm the Capitol on January 6, 2021, in a scheme to overthrow democracy and stay in power as a dictator. He then demanded equal time, presumably during the hearings.
“The Fake News Networks are perpetuating lies, falsehoods, and Russia, Russia, Russia type disinformation (same sick people, here we go again!) by allowing the low rated but nevertheless one sided and slanderous Unselect Committee hearings to go endlessly and aimlessly on (and on and on!),” Trump ranted on his pathetic social media platform. “It is a one sided, highly partisan Witch Hunt, the likes of which has never been seen in Congress before. Therefore, I am hereby demanding EQUAL TIME to spell out the massive Voter Fraud & Dem Security Breach!”
It should be pointed out that the Russia investigation was a legitimate probe conducted by experienced investigators who found that Trump did receive help from the Russians to win the 2016 Election. The final report also noted that Trump committed obstruction of justice on multiple occasions, crimes the DOJ should still prosecute him for committing.
As for Trump’s demand for equal time, Rep. Swalwell agreed, but only if Trump is under oath like all the other witnesses.
Equal time means sitting your lying ass in a witness chair.

And this is how we all know that Trump won’t do it. He’s a coward and serial liar who would commit perjury as soon as he opens his mouth to speak. There is simply no doubt about it. Trump can demand equal time all he wants, but unless he’s willing to speak under oath, there’s no way he should be allowed to appear at the hearings.
